SENIOR ARMY COMMANDERS TO DISCUSS TOTAL FORCE INTEGRATION, OPERATIONAL READINESS, AND DOMESTIC EMERGENCY SUPPORT AT 2015 AUSA ANNUAL MEETING
WASHINGTON. – Lt. Gen. Jeffrey W. Talley, chief of Army Reserve and commanding general, United States Army Reserve Command, and senior leaders of the U.S. Army Reserve and U.S. Army Reserve Command will participate in various panel sessions to discuss Total Force readiness and domestic emergency support during the Association of the United States Army’s (AUSA) Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, D.C., October 12-14, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
Panel discussions will include topics ranging from the impact of budget sequestration on the Army Reserve’s mission, how today’s operational Army Reserve supports the National Military Strategy, Army commitments worldwide, the Total Force in today’s complex global security environment, and other topics such as recruiting and retention.
As part of the annual meeting, Lt. Gen. Talley will host the U.S. Army Reserve Seminar at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13 in room 145AB of the convention center. The seminar will feature a panel of commanding generals from key U.S. Army Service Component Commands who will discuss how the Army Reserve’s capabilities are integrated into Combatant Command- and Corps-level plans across warfighting functions, and take questions from the audience. The seminar panelists are:
- Gen. Vincent Brooks, commanding general of U.S. Army Pacific
- Lt. Gen Ben Hodges, commanding general of U.S. Army Europe
- Lt. Gen. Stephen Lanza, commanding general of I Corps
- Maj. Gen. Darryl Williams, commanding general of U.S. Army Africa
- Maj Gen. Clarence Chinn, commanding general of U.S. Army South
Lt. Gen. Talley will also unveil two new Army Reserve products, an Army Reserve mission overview video, “This is Your Army Reserve,” and the latest edition of the
“Army Reserve at a Glance,” a state-by-state snapshot of Army Reserve roles, responsibilities and value the Army Reserve brings to individual states, to include a detailed overview of unit capabilities, the positive economic impact the Army Reserve has on the communities it serves, and other aspects of its mission.
Lt. Gen. Talley will also explain the Army Reserve’s role in future force development, threat mitigation, and modernization as a panelist on Contemporary Military Forum (CMF) 7: “Total Force to Win in a Complex World” at 3 p.m. on October 13 in room 151AB.
Also at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13 in room 151AB, Maj. Gen. Daniel York, commanding general, 76th Operational Reserve Command, will discuss the Army Reserve’s unique and clearly defined federal reserve role in homeland defense and Defense Support of Civil Authorities as part of CMF 4: “Homeland Defense/Homeland Security: The Army-DHS Partnership.”
Maj. Gen. York will identify the key Army Reserve capabilities and command relationships that allow it to provide critical and complementary response competencies in support of civil authorities.
