Women’s History Month Spotlight – 65C, 2nd Lt. Kaitlyn Isabella Randall
March 10, 2021 — Women’s History Month Spotlight – 2nd Lt. Kaitlyn Isabella Randall, 5th Medical Brigade No Army story is typical, and you can never know the whole story of an Army Reserve Soldier. 2nd Lt. Kaitlyn Randall is a 65C, Army dietitian, with a series of licenses after her name on her signature block, is no exception. Like many others, Randall comes from a military-related background, with a twist; she was born and raised in Germany until age 19. The Army Reserve has allowed Randall to serve her country, apply her civilian and military training, have a career, all while also experiencing living life, saying, “My husband and I both enjoy traveling, good food, and everything fitness-related!” ... Deployed Army Nurse, Taking Care of Soldiers is My Job
March 2, 2021 — Capt. Meagan Barker is a 66S (Critical Care Nurse) working in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU); deployed with the 228th Combat Support Hospital (CSH) deployed to Kuwait. As part of Women’s History Month, we are spotlighting her and her deployment mission. The 228th CSH Mission is to provide theater hospitalization in support of forces, in CENTCOM Area of Operation, and provide area medical support to camps within Kuwait and other locations. This mission keeps Barker engaged with a wide-spectrum of patients. “Being an ICU Nurse I am able to take an assortment of patients to assist in effectively taking care of our Soldiers. Also, being a Post Anesthesia Care Unit Recovery Nurse I support recovering a patient right after surgery in the ICU until they are stable to return to duty,” said Capt. Meagan Barker. “My Goal growing up was to care for Soldiers and I never fathomed that, whether inside or outside the hospital, they have blessed my live just as much as I have blessed theirs,” Barker said. ... Black History Month an Opportunity to Highlight Diversity of Talent
February 23, 2021 — In recognition of Black History Month, it’s an opportunity to look at the diversity of talent and skills that can only be found in the Army Reserve and 3d Medical Command (Deployment Support). Based in the Atlanta area, the 3d MC(DS) is right in the middle of Georgia and its $10 billion dollar film and television industry. Although the 3d MC(DS) mission is to provide world-class military medicine, it shouldn’t be surprising to have a TPU Soldier involved in the film industry. Maj. Satomi Mack-Martin, is a 36A Finance Officer, working in the 3d MC(DS) Public Affairs section. In her civilian capacity she writes and direct content for video production companies and small businesses. COVID may have limited the overall exposure of her work, but hasn’t deterred her focus, “If 2020 has taught me anything, it reassured discipline for me. I currently homeschool my two children; two and six years old. I had to find a way to remain productive and creative last year despite all that was going on. On most days, I wake up around 4am to pray and meditate, work out, and begin a 2-hr writing session before my family awakes for the day,” Mack-Martin said. ... MORE

Michigan CVVT supports first and second COVID-19 vaccination dose clinic
February 23, 2021 — The Michigan National Guard recently supported a tri-county mass vaccination clinic during a community-based first and second vaccination dose event. “We are doing a mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic today,” said David Fowler, clinic supervisor of the Coldwater office, Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency. “It is a combined first and second doses in which we have about 400 first doses and just under 200 second doses for people that received their first dose 4 weeks ago today.”... February 10, 2021 — Lt. Col. Peter Stewart, a U.S. Army Reserve Nurse Corps Officer, has been an integral part of the frontline fight since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
