Command Sergeant Major Ty V. Emmans began his military career in 1986 when he enlisted in the United States Army Reserve as an Infantryman.
After completing his basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia, he was assigned as a Rifleman in the Scout Platoon, HHC, 1st 409th Infantry, 205th Infantry Regiment, in Cambridge, Minnesota. His next operational assignment was in Cambridge, Minnesota, where he served in the Mortar Platoon, HHC, 1st 409th Infantry, 205th Infantry Regiment as both a Squad Leader and Section Sergeant. He was then assigned to Charlie Company 3 / 3rd Infantry Company in Cannon Falls, Minnesota where he served as a Mortar Platoon Section Sergeant for three years.
Following this assignment, CSM Emmans was assigned to the 5th Field Exercise Brigade, Arden Hills, Minnesota.
CSM Emmans then served as ANCOC instructor with the 84th Division at Camp Ripley, MN for two years. Returning to Arden Hills, Minnesota, he was assigned to the 85th Training Support Battalion as both the Assistant Operation NCO and Team 4 NCOIC. He then was promoted to MSG to the 216th Quartermaster Company in Mankato, Minnesota. He served as the Operations NCO and the Acting 1SG for two years.
CSM Emmans was then assigned as the Acting CSM for the 302nd Maintenance Battalion in Arden Hills, Minnesota for two years.
CSM Emmans was then assigned to the 88th Regional Readiness Command and severed as the G7 NCOIC. During this time, he completed phase one of the non-resident phase of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. After graduating with honors from the Academy, CSM Emmans was selected as the Command Sergeant Major of 439th Engineer Battalion in Bismarck, North Dakota.
In August of 2009, CSM Emmans was selected and assumed duties as the 367th Engineer Battalion in St. Cloud, Minnesota. In February 2013, CSM Emmans was select and assumed the duties as the 364th Public Affairs Operations Center at Ft. Snelling, MN.
In July 2014, CSM Emmans was select and assumed the duties as the 372nd Engineer Brigade at Ft. Snelling, MN. In January 2016, he assumed duties as the 416th TEC CSM. His military education includes 11B Infantryman, 11C Mortarman, 92A Automated Logistics Supply, Air Assault School, Pre-Ranger Course, Light Fighter Course, NBC Defense School, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic and Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course, First Sergeant Course and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy.
Command Sergeant Major Emmans’s awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 2nd Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with 4th Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal with 4th Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with Silver and Two Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Silver Hour Glass and Mobilization device, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 4, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Superior Unit Award with Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Assault Badge, and the Bronze de Fleury Medal .
In Civilian life, Command Sergeant Major Emmans is a Union Concrete Foreman and Finisher. He is a member of the Local 633 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Command Sergeant Major Emmans is married to the former Mrs. Kimberly Bladow and have one child, Savannah, who had her fifth birthday on 20 April 2015.
