Maj. Gen. Cheryn Fasano

Mobilization Assistant to the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), Joint Transportation Reserve Unit

Major General Cheryn L. Fasano serves as the Mobilization Assistant to the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) Commander and as Commander of the Joint Transportation Reserve Unit (JTRU), headquartered at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. The JTRU augments USTRANSCOM in providing air, land, and sea transportation for the Department of Defense, both in times of peace and war.

In her previous assignment, Major General Fasano served as Deputy Commanding General (Operational Command Post) for the 377th Theater Sustainment Command, mobilized in support of Army North at Ft. Sam Houston, TX. She has served five tours of active duty following the events of 9/11 totaling 68 months, including deploying to Balad, Iraq as Support Operations Transportation Officer, 172nd Corps Support Group in 2004.

Major General Fasano received a Reserve commission as a Second Lieutenant from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps, Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis in May 1989. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Indiana University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, a Master of Science in Recreation Management from Texas State University-San Marcos, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. Her military education includes Adjutant General Officer Basic Course, Transportation Corps Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College, Department of Distance Education (Distinguished Graduate).

Major General Fasano’s other prior assignments include Commander of the 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary); Commander of the 475th Quartermaster Group (Petroleum); G4 of the 75th Training Command; Branch Chief, 2nd Brigade, Southern Training Division, 75th Training Command; Chief, Exercise Control Group in the 7306th Medical Training Support Battalion (Joint); S4 for the 3rd Medical Training Brigade; Chief, Movement Tracking Branch at U.S. Army Europe Sustainment Directorate (Mobilized); S1 for Hood Mobilization Brigade (Mobilized); S2/3 and Executive Officer for 363rd Quartermaster Battalion; Regional Program Manager for U.S. European Command (Joint, Mobilized); Transportation Officer for the 172nd Corps Support Group (Deployed); Executive Officer for the 694th Maintenance Battalion; Deputy G4 for the 90th Regional Readiness Group; S1 and S4 for the 363rd Quartermaster Battalion; and HHC Commander for the 363rd Corps Support Group.

Major General Fasano’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit with one oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, and Meritorious Unit Award.

Major General Fasano and her husband Doctor/Colonel (Retired) John Fasano have been married for 27 years.
