Brig. Gen. Rodney J. Fischer

Commanding General

Brigadier General Rodney J. Fischer enlisted in the Army in 1985. He served two years as an enlisted soldier before being accepted into the West Point Preparatory School at Ft Monmouth, New Jersey, followed by the United States Military Academy in 1988. BG Fischer graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1992 and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Signal Corps. He served on Active Duty in a variety of staff and leadership positions in the 124th Signal Battalion, 2-77 Armor Battalion and 1-68 Armor Battalion. In 1995, he deployed to Kuwait with 3rd Brigade Combat Team as part of Operation Intrinsic Action.
He joined the United States Army Reserve in 2002 and served in a variety of positions to include Wideband SATCOM Operations Manager with USSTRATCOM, a Network Planner with USNORTHCOM, and as a Commercial Imagery Team (CIT) Leader and Operations Officer with the 1stSpace Brigade. In 2008, he led the deployment of the CIT to the Middle East in support of CENTCOM operations. In subsequent assignments, he served as a Battalion Chief Observer Controller/Trainer at the 75thTraining Command, commanded the 2d Battalion, 356thRegiment (LS) at Fort Carson, CO, and Exercise Branch Chief in the 75thTraining Command.
In 2017, he was assigned as the G-3/7 Chief of Operations at the 85thArmy Reserve Support Command, for nine Brigade Support Elements and 46 Army Reserve Battalions, tasked with validating US Army Reserve Soldier readiness. He then assumed command of the 640thRegional Support Group (RSG) in Sloan, NV and continued in that positions until his selections as the 80thTraining Command (TASS) Deputy Commanding General.
His military education includes the Signal Officer Basic Course, the Combined Arms Service Staff School, the Command and General Staff College, The Space Operations Officer Qualification Course, and the Army War College. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the United States Military Academy, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado, and a Master's degree in Strategic Studies from the Army War College.
As a Citizen Soldier, Brigadier General Fischer is a Department of the Army Civilian with the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command / Army Forces Strategic Command Future Warfare Center, developing plans to integrate Space capabilities into future warfighting concepts. Brigadier General Fischer resides in Colorado Springs, CO with his wife, Julie, and their two children, Reagan and Madison.
