Brig. Gen. Mark F. Schoenfeld

Deputy Commanding General, 79th Theater Sustainment Command

Brigadier General Schoenfeld is currently assigned as the Deputy Commander, 79th Theater Sustainment Command located at Los Alamitos, California.

Brigadier General Schoenfeld graduated from Wittenberg University in 1995 and subsequently received his commission in the Transportation Corps through the Reserve Officers Training Corps at Central State University, Wilberforce, Ohio. Brigadier General Schoenfeld completed the Transportation Officer Basic Course in 1996 and transitioned to the Logistics Corps in 2005. Brigadier General Schoenfeld assessed into the Active Guard Reserve program in 1999.

Brigadier General Schoenfeld served in numerous staff and leadership roles while deployed in support of Operation Joint Guard, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. Subsequent to these assignments, Brigadier General Schoenfeld served as a Detailed Inspector General with the US Army Reserve Command; Deputy Support Operations Officer, 311th Expeditionary Sustainment Command; and Deputy Commander, 1st Training Brigade, US Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command. Brigadier General Schoenfeld commanded Support Battalion, 196th Infantry Brigade followed by assignment as Chief of Staff, 9th Mission Support Command. Brigadier General Schoenfeld commanded the USAR Theater Support Group-Pacific from June 2020-June 2022 prior to his assignment to the Joint Staff as Deputy Director Current Operations for the J4 Directorate in July 2022. He then served as the Deputy Director Plans and Readiness for the J4 Directorate prior to his assignment with the Office of the Chief Army Reserve.

Brigadier General Schoenfeld holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Wittenberg University, a Master of Arts in Transportation and Logistics Management from American Military University, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the US Army War College. Brigadier General Schoenfeld received his professional certification as a Demonstrated Master Logistician upon completion of the Theater Logistics Course in 2011. In addition, Brigadier General Schoenfeld completed the Canadian Security Studies Program at the Canadian Forces College and most recently he completed the Senior Managers Course in National Security Leadership at George Washington University. His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal.
