Brigadier General Matthew M. Cain assumed command as the Commanding General of the 364th Expeditionary Sustainment Command (ESC) on August 1, 2025.
Headquartered in Marysville, Washington, the 364th ESC is a subordinate command of the 79th Theater Sustainment Command located in Los Alamitos, California. The 364th ESC includes two Regional Support Groups, one Sustainment Brigade, and one Transportation Brigade Expeditionary that comprise a total of 47 units and spans 7 states and 2 time zones in the northwestern portion of the United States. There are over 5,200 Soldiers authorized in the command. Prior to becoming the 364th ESC Commanding General, Brigadier General Cain was the G3 for the 86th Training Division.
Brigadier General Cain was born in Wisconsin. In 1997, he was commissioned through the Marquette University Army ROTC program as a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery. He holds a Master of National Security Strategy from the National War College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Brigadier General Cain’s awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal (with “V” device and Oak Cluster), Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (1-Silver Oak Cluster, 1-Bronze Oak Cluster), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 Stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon (2nd), Armed Forces Reserve Medal (M Device), NATO Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the German Armed Force Proficiency Badge (Gold).
