COL Kelly Jones graduated from Purdue University and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the Army Engineer Corp through the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program. She entered active duty in the spring of 1996 and served in various company level positions during her tour in Korea and assignments stateside before transitioning to the Army Reserves in 2000.
In the Army Reserve, she commanded the 314th Military Police Company from 2002-2005 deploying the company to Operation Enduring Freedom, Iraq-Kuwait 2003-04. Her other command assignments include Battalion Command of the 384th Military Police Battalion and Brigade Command of the 300th Military Police Brigade.
COL Kelly Jones also served in several battalion, brigade, and division level staff positions to include Battalion Adjutant (S1), two Battalion Operations Officer (S3) assignments, Brigade Support Operations Officer (SPO), Chief of Internal Review, Assistant Chief of Staff G7 (ACOS G7), and Assistant Chief of Staff G57 (ACOS G57).
Prior to her assignment as the Deputy Commander of the 364th Expeditionary Sustainment Command (ESC), COL Kelly Jones’ was the Chief of Staff (COS) of the 87th Training Division.
COL Jones is a graduate of the Engineer Officer Basic Course, Military Police Captain’s Career Course, Senior Transportation Officers Qualification Course, Army Logistics Management Course, Combined Arms Exercise Course, Intermediate Level Education and Advanced Operations Course at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Advanced Joint Professional Military Education Course, and the Resident Army War College.
COL Kelly Jones has two master’s degrees and holds a number of awards and badges to include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medals, Army Commendation Medals, Army Achievement Medals, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Parachutist Badge.
Jones resides in Seattle with her two sons ages 14 and 11.
