Brig. Gen. Charles Sentell

Deputy Commanding General (Main Command Post), 377th Theater Sustainment Command

Brigadier General Charles Sentell serves as the Deputy Commanding General (Main Command Post) for the 377th Theater Sustainment Command headquartered in Belle Chasse, Louisiana. Previously, he served as the Commanding General of the 95th Training Division (Initial Entry Training). 

The Minden, La. native received his commission as an infantry officer in 1989 through the Reserve Officer Training Program at North Carolina’s Davidson College where he graduated with honors and an undergraduate degree in political science.  After completing the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Ranger School and Pathfinder Course at Fort Benning, Ga., he served three years on active duty with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  During this time, he earned his first Bronze Star as an infantry platoon leader while deployed to Iraq during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. 

Following active duty, he returned to his home state to attend Louisiana State University law school where he earned a Juris Doctorate Degree in 1995.  He joined the Army Reserve two years later with the 4013th Garrison Support Unit in Bossier City and attended the Transportation Officer Advanced Course at Fort Eustis, Va. His military education includes a master’s degree from the United States Army War College, the Command and General Staff College, and he is a graduate of the Advanced Joint Professional Military Education course.

Brig. Gen. Sentell then went to the 8th Battalion (Transportation Company), 95th Division in Shreveport where he served first as the operations officer before assuming command. Following battalion command, he led and mobilized another unit as commander of the 519th Transportation Detachment from Camp Pendleton, Calif. He earned his second Bronze Star during a one-year deployment to Iraq with the 519th as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon his return, he served as executive officer for the 2d Battalion, 379th Regiment, 95th Division in Arkadelphia, Ark. He was then selected as the brigade operations officer for the 7th Brigade, 95th Division in Little Rock. He later assumed command of the 2203rd Mobilization Support Battalion in Bossier City, La.

In 2013, Brig. Gen. Sentell earned a Master’s Degree from the United States Army War College, where he was a resident student and also a member of the Army War College Eisenhower team. A three-year IMA assignment as a joint logistics plans officer for United States Army Central Command followed.  He later became the Command Inspector General for the 75th Training Command.  Before assuming command of the 95th Training Division (Initial Entry Training), he was the brigade commander of the 97th Training Brigade (CGSOC) headquartered at Ft. Sheridan, IL.

Brig. Gen. Sentell’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (1 silver OLC), Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), CIB, Ranger Tab, EIB, Senior Parachutist Badge and numerous mobilization awards.

Brig. Gen. Sentell is a former prosecutor of 13 years in the state of Louisiana.  He now serves as an elected Louisiana judge, maintains a private law practice with his father, and serves on the board of a nationally chartered bank.  Brig. Gen. Sentell is married and the proud father of two children.
