Commanding General, 351st Civil Affairs Command

BG Johnson's previous assignment was the Assistant Chief of Staff, C-9, Civil Affairs and Civil Military Operations ROK- US Combined Forces Command. BG Johnson began his career as an Enlisted Soldier in the US Army Reserve in 1986. He then commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1992 upon graduating from Mississippi State University Army ROTC Program. BG Johnson is a third generation Soldier.

Affairs officer includes: Civil Affairs Planner, 321st Civil Affairs Brigade; Strategic-Joint Planner, United States Southern Command; Commander, 405th Civil Affairs Battalion; CJ-33, Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa; Commander, 306th Civil Affairs Brigade (Airborne); Chief of Staff, 350th Civil Affairs Command; and Assistant Chief of Staff, C-9, ROK-US Combined Forces Command.

BG Johnson’s duties and deployments include: Finance Officer, 336th Finance Command, Camp Doha, Kuwait (FY ‘00-‘01); Comptroller, CJTF-Phoenix I, 2nd Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Operation Enduring Freedom, Kabul, Afghanistan (FY ‘03-‘04); Strategic Planner, United States Southern Command, Operation Unified Response, Port-au-Prince, Haiti (FY ’10-’11); and Director of Operations, CJTF-Horn of Africa, Operation Enduring Freedom (FY ’13-’14).

BG Johnson’s civilian education includes: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Mississippi State University; Master of Business Administration, Jackson State University; Juris Doctor, Thurgood Marshall School of Law; and Executive Education Certificate, The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
BG Johnson’s military education includes: DOD Comptrollership Program, Syracuse University; Finance Officer Basic and Advance Course; Civil Affairs Qualification Course; Army Command and Staff General College; Advanced Operations Warfighter Course; Advanced Joint Professional Military Education II, Joint Forces Staff College; Stability, Security and Development in Complex Operation Certificate, Naval Postgraduate School; and Master Degree in Strategic Studies, United States Army War College. He is a Level III Joint Qualified Officer.

BG Johnson’s military awards and decorations include: Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Joint Service Achievement Medal; Combat Action Badge, Parachute Badge, and Italian and Colombian Parachute Badge.
BG Johnson is married to the former Demetria Al-Uqdah. They have four sons: Staff Sergeant David Johnson, Accountant at Department of Veteran Affairs; Brice Johnson, Quarterback at University of Mississippi; Zachary Johnson, Regan High School; and Joshua Johnson, Bush Middle School. He is a licensed attorney and a member of USAA Executive Management Group, where he serves as a Vice President, Assistant Corporate Secretary to USAA Board of Directors. He and his family currently reside in San Antonio, Texas.
