Chief of Staff Mikey Kloster

Chief of Staff

Dr. Mikey Kloster is employed as the Chief of Staff for the 99th Readiness Division headquartered at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. She is also a retired brigadier general.

Kloster began her military career in June 1984 as a second lieutenant.  She was commissioned as Distinguished Military Graduate from the Reserve Officers Training Corps at the University of Delaware.  She served on Active Duty, the National Guard and the Army Reserve – encompassing all facets of Army military service.

In October of 1984, her first active duty assignment was to the 54th Area Support Group, Rheinberg, Germany, where she served as the Administrative Support Division Officer, Army Community Services Officer, and ended her tour as the Headquarters Company Commander for the 54th ASG and the MILCOM.  She then served at the Kansas City Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), where she held the positions of Adjutant and Operations Officer, and was a member of the USMEPCOM Corporate Information Management IDEF team under the Office of the Secretary of Defense.  In July of 1992, she assumed command of Headquarters Company, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas – the largest company in the US Army.

 Leaving active duty, she was assigned to the Delaware Army National Guard in 1993, where she served with the Selective Service.  In 1994, she was assigned to the Kansas National Guard, where she served as the Executive Officer, Selective Service, and then Personnel Services Officer, Secretary to the General Staff and Headquarters Commandant, 35th Infantry Division.  In July 2000, she joined the Army Reserve, where she headed several positions in the Office of the Commanding General, 99th Regional Readiness Command.

 Following promotion to lieutenant colonel, she served as Battalion Commander of the 444th Personnel Service Battalion and subsequently served in the first rotation of Operation Iraqi Freedom in Kuwait and Iraq.  She has served as Chief Personnel Officer for several General Officer level commands and also served as the Commander, the 1st Mobilization Support Group, at Fort Totten (Queens), New York, and Commanding General, 98th Training Division (IET) at Fort Benning, Georgia.

 Kloster is a graduate of the Combined Arms and Services Staff School; the United States Army Command and General Staff College and the United States Army War College.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Delaware, a Master of Science in Management, and a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration.

 Kloster’s military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (with oak leaf cluster), the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the Parachute Badge and the Combat Action Badge.

 She lives outside JB MDL with Fred the Cat.
