BG Edberg is currently the 99th DIV (R) Deputy Commanding General. His troop assignments include ten and a half years of active duty. He served as a Mechanized Infantry Platoon Leader 1-5 Infantry (M) in Korea, a Company Executive Officer for Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, later, as the Assistant Operations Officer for 1-87 Infantry at Fort Drum, NY. Significant deployments include a JRTC rotation and participation in Operation Restore Hope, Haiti.
After completing the Military Intelligence Officer Advanced Course, he served as the Assistant Operations Officer (Training) for the 201st Military Intelligence Brigade. BG Edberg then served as the Company Commander for Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division. Where he completed another JRTC rotation and deployed the Headquarters to Thailand for Operation Cobra Gold and Brisbane, Australia for an ABCA War-Ex. He completed his assignment at Fort Lewis, WA with the 1-5 Infantry (L) as the Battalion S2, participating in an NTC rotation and prepare the battalion for a Sinai rotation. BG Edberg completed his active duty career as the S3 Operations Officer for the 3-309th Training Support Battalion, 78th Training Division in Syracuse, NY.
After transitioning to the Army Reserve in 2004, BG Edberg deployed as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 457th Transportation Battalion as the Battalion S3 in Balad, Iraq where he oversaw the execution of over 2500 Combat Logistical Patrols as part of the Corps Support element. Returning from deployment, BG Edberg held staff positions as the Assistant S3, and Brigade S3 for the 3rd Combat Support Training Brigade, Fort Snelling MN. Later, he became the Brigade S3 for the 2nd Military Police Brigade (Training) at the same location. His battalion command assignments include 1-104th Military Police Battalion (Training) in Aurora, CO and 2-95th Military Police Battalion (Training) in Baton Rouge, LA, after which he served as the Deputy G3 and later the Deputy Chief of Staff G3/5/7 for the 102nd Training Division (CS) in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Prior to his current assignment, He commanded the 2nd Military Police Training Brigade of the 102nd Training Division (Maneuver Support) located in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.
BG Edberg is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Military Intelligence Officer Advance and Electronic Warfare Signals Intelligence Courses, Military Police Transition Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Army Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College. He holds a Bachelors of General Studies in Business and Leadership from the University of Minnesota, and a Masters in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. His decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Achievement Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Parachutist Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, and Combat Action Badge.
In his civilian career, BG Edberg recently assumed the position of Staff Operations & Training Officer for the 102nd Division (MS). He and his wife, Margie, reside in Rolla, MO and have three children; Mikayla (Burnsville, MN), Devyn (Farmington, MN) and Ethan (High School).
