Sergeant Major Terry Wong is a native of Massachusetts and is currently assigned as the Deputy Commandant for the United States Army Noncommissioned Officer Academy Camp Parks.

His previous assignments include 9th Mission Support Command, Ft. Shafter, HI; 100th BN 442d Infantry Battalion, Ft. Shafter, HI; 76th Operational Support Command, Ft. Douglas, UT; 1st Brigade 98th Division, Ft. Benning, GA; United States Army Reserve Noncommissioned Officer Academy Dix, Ft. Dix, NJ; United States Army Sergeant Major Academy, Ft. Bliss, TX; 101st Airborne Division Detachment, Ft. Campbell, KY; United States Army Reserve Command, Ft. McPherson, GA; 94th Regional Support Command, Devens RFTA, MA; United States Army Reserve Noncommissioned Officer Academy Lewis; Ft. Lewis, WA; 1-181 Infantry Battalion, Cambridge, MA, and 3-18 Infantry Regiment, Boston, MA.

SGM Wong has deployed to Iraq twice with the 101st Airborne Division Detachment (OIF I and IV). His previous duties include Operations Sergeant, Detachment Sergeant, Training NCO, Small Group Leader, and Squad Leader.

His formal military training consists of Primary Leadership Development Course, Infantry Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, Infantry Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course, Sergeants Major Resident Course (Class 58), Security Manager Course, Joint Firepower Course, Battle Staff Course, Small Group Leader Instructor Course, Instructor Course, DoD Defense Support of Civil Authorities Course, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education, and various functional courses. He has a Master degree in Business Administration from Northcentral University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Massachusetts.

SGM Wong’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with six oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with five oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with eight oak leaf clusters, the Good Conduct Medal (7th award), the Iraq Campaign Medal with 2 service stars, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M,” numeral 2 and Gold Hourglass devices, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 5, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon with numeral 2, the Meritorious Unit Award with oak leaf cluster, the Army Superior Unit Award, the Parachutist and Air Assault Badge. Sergeant Major Wong is also a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.

He is married to the former MSG Carmela Cushman. He has two daughters and a son.
