WHITE SETTLEMENT, Texas - Army Reserve Staff Sgt. Mercedes Dereese, a training noncommissioned officer and native of Birmingham, Alabama, assigned to the 318th Chemical Company, 490th Chemical Battalion, 76th Operational Response Command takes notes during the first ever Sabot Academy in White Settlement, Texas May 19. The four-day academy covers a variety of basic and advanced gunnery skills and knowledge, and is designed to better prepare students for the extremely challenging master gunnery common core course at Fort Benning, Georgia.
