Command Sergeant Major Timothy Smith is the Command Sergeant Major of the 63d Regional Support Command, Mountain View, CA. Prior to his current assignment he was the first CSM for the Joint & Special Troops Support Command.
CSM Smith was born and raised in Germany and after entering the Army in 1982 he served on active duty for six years. He is the son and grandson of Soldiers.
He has held every noncommissioned officer leadership position, as well as S-2 and S-3 staff assignments and has served as a Command Sergeant Major at Battalion, Group, and Brigade levels. His awards and decorations include the Combat Action Badge, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Army Commendation Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters. He served in the Gulf War as a Squad Leader in the 800th Military Police Brigade and in the Iraq War as a Group Command Sergeant Major with the 1st Armored Division’s Engineer Brigade.
He holds Bachelor and Associate Degrees in Criminal Justice and is currently employed as a Deputy Regional Security Manager for DHS / U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Service in Dallas, Texas.
He and his wife Holly, who is a U.S. Navy civilian employee, reside in Ft. Worth, Texas and have two children; 23-year old David and 15-year old Scott.
