Major General Luis R. Visot assumed the responsibilities of Deputy Commanding General (Operations), United States Army Reserve, on 9 June 2012. As Deputy Commanding General (Operations), Maj. Gen. Visot provides oversight of the 16 Army Reserve Operational and Functional Commands throughout the Continental United States, Hawaii, and Germany.
 
Maj. Gen. Visot, born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, was commissioned as a 2LT in May 1978. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI and a Masters in Education from the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. MG Visot received a Masters in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. His military education includes: Infantry Airborne Basic Course, Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, Transportation Officer Advanced Course, Command and General Staff College, the Associate Logistics Executive Development Course, the United States Army War College, the Advanced Joint Military Professional Education (AJPME), the Joint Flag Officer Warfighting Course, and CAPSTONE.
 
Maj. Gen. Visot has held a variety of command and staff positions throughout his career. Maj. Gen. Visot’s general officer command positions include: Commanding General, 377th Theater Sustainment Command, New Orleans, La.; Commanding General, 4th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), San Antonio, Tex.; Deputy Commanding General, 1st Theater Sustainment Command, Ft. Bragg, N.C.; and Commander, 3rd Transportation Command Element, Anniston, Ala. Other command positions include: Commander, 32nd Transportation Group (Composite), Tampa, Fla.; Commander, 6th Transportation Battalion (Truck), Ft. Eustis, Va.; Commander, 3-347th Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 87th Division (Training Support), Orlando, Fla; and Commander, 146th Transportation Detachment (Air Terminal Movement Control Team), Orlando, FL. Maj. Gen. Visot’s deployments include: Desert Shield/Desert Storm (Saudi Arabia), Operation Joint Endeavor (Hungary and Bosnia-Herzegovina); Operation Iraqi Freedom (Kuwait and Iraq), and Operation Unified Response (Haiti).
 
Maj. Gen. Visot’s awards/decorations: Army Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service medal with silver and bronze oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Meritorious Unit Citation, Parachutist Badge, and Army Staff Identification Badge.
 
Maj. Gen. Visot is married to Dr. Cindy S. Visot, who is the Chief of Staff and the Director of Board of Trustees Operations at the University of South Florida.
