Commanding General, 4th Expeditionary Sustainment Command

Brigadier General Kenneth D. Jones assumed command of the 4th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) on 15 April 2015. The  headquarters is located on Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, with Mission Command for Army Reserve Sustainment units geographically dispersed throughout the states of Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.  In this position, he ensures units and soldiers are fully trained and relevant to meet current and future Combatant Commander Force requirements.
Brig. Gen. Jones was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Texas A&M University in December 1980.  He is a Joint Qualified Officer and graduate of numerous military courses including: Ordnance Basic and Advanced, Transportation Advanced, Small Group Instructor, Command and General Staff College, Advanced Joint Professional Military Education, United States Army War College, and CAPSTONE General and Flag Officer Course.
Brig. Gen. Jones served in a range of command and staff assignments including:  Commanding General 451st ESC, Wichita, Kan.; Deputy Commanding General 377th TSC, New Orleans, La.; Deputy Commander, 103rd ESC, Des Moines, Iowa and Iraq; Commander, 2nd Brigade (BCT)/95th Division, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Commander 800th LSB/ 80th Training Command, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Chief of Staff 143rd TRANSCOM, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; and Commander, 11th Battalion (CGSC), 75th Division, Independence, Mo. 
His overseas assignments include: Operation Iraqi Freedom in Kuwait, 2004-2005; Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation New Dawn, in Iraq, 2010-2011.
His awards and decorations include: Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medals, Meritorious Service Medals, Army Commendation Medals, Air Force Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medals, Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Overseas Training Ribbon, Senior Parachutist Badge and Combat Action Badge.
In his civilian career, Brig. Gen. Jones is retired from Hallmark Cards Inc., Topeka, Kan., where he  culminated a 28 year career as the Plant Engineering Manager.  He is currently employed part-time in the family business as the Business Development and Human Resource Manager for Jones and Associates Insurance, Inc.  He resides in Iola, Texas with his wife Cheryl Jones.  He has two daughters, Amanda and Allison.
