Brig. Gen. A. Ray Royalty

Brig. Gen. Royalty was commissioned into the Infantry upon completing his Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.

Active duty assignments have included time with the 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized), 75th Ranger Regiment, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), and the 1st Infantry Division. While assigned to the 1st Infantry Division, Royalty served as the Senior Combat Advisor to an Iraqi division on the east side of Baghdad as part of the 2007 coalition surge.
 
Significant Army Reserve assignments have included aide-de-camp, 94th Army Reserve Command, Hanscom AFB, Mass.; Battalion Commander 3/323rd Regt, Clemson, S.C.; Chief of Staff 81st Regional Readiness Group, Fort Jackson, S.C.; Brigade Commander 1/98th Division, Fort Benning, Ga.; and the Deputy Chief of Staff Operations (G3) at the 108th Training Command, Charlotte, N.C.
 
Brig. Gen. Royalty has earned the Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Ranger Tab, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge along with various other decorations over his career while serving at company, battalion, brigade, and division levels of responsibility.
 
A Joint Qualified officer, Royalty is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms and Services Staff College, Command and General Staff College, Advanced Joint Professional Military Education from the Joint Forces Staff College, and the Army War College. 
 
Royalty holds a Master of Arts degree in Information Management from Webster University; a Master of Business Administration degree from Winthrop University; a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the Army War College; and is currently finishing his doctoral dissertation at the George Washington University in Human and Organizational Learning with an emphasis on the dynamics of culture and leadership.
 
Civilian business experience spans multiple assignments with two Fortune 500 companies serving in leadership positions in manufacturing, corporate training, sales, and IT project management with opportunities for both national and international travel.
 
Royalty represents the third generation from his family to have served with the 1st Infantry Division in foreign campaigns during times of conflict - World War II, Vietnam, and Iraq.
