Command Sgt. Maj. Robert N. Roberson, Jr., entered the Army on July 9, 1973 at Fort Ord, Calif., where he completed basic training, graduating as the Honor Graduate. He completed advanced individual training (AIT) at Fort Polk, La., and spent two years on active duty, assigned to the 509th U.S. Army Artillery Detachment in Germany. He transitioned into the United States Army Reserve on May 9, 1976.
CSM Roberson’s current duty assignment is the Command Sergeant Major for the 79th Sustainment Support Command, Los Alamitos, Calif.
He has completed tours of duty at 411th Engineer Company, Guam; 177th Transportation Company, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; 129th Hospital Company, San Diego, Calif.; 437th Ambulance Medical Company, Los Alamitos, Calif.; 6220th U.S. Army Reserve School, Bell, Calif.; 176th Medical Group, Garden Grove, Calif.; 437th Ambulance Medical Company, Norco, Calif.; 91st Division 3rd Training Brigade, Camp Parks, Calif.; 653rd Area Support Group, MARB, Calif. (2 tours), and 653rd ASG Det. 4, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. and 164th CSG, Mesa, Ariz., with a tour of duty in Balad, Iraq (OIF), and as the 63rd Regional Readiness Command's Command Sergeant Major.
He has held every Noncommissioned Officer position with the exception of Battalion CSM. After two tours as a Brigade Operations Staff Sergeant Major, he was appointed over his peers to the position of Group CSM for the 653rd Area Support Group, MARB, Calif.
Roberson’s military education includes: Basic Combat Training (Honor Graduate), Advanced Individual Training (Infantry), Primary Leadership Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course, First Sergeant Course (Top 10% Graduate), Battle Staff Operations Course, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Force Protection Unit Advisors Course, Senior Enlisted Equal Opportunity Course, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, and the Command Sergeant Major Designee Course. CSM Roberson has the following MOS series and ASIs: 11B, 42L, 62J, 63B, 91B, and the “H”, “M”, and “2S” ASIs.
