BG Troy D. Kok began his military career when he enlisted in the Army Reserves in 1982. He received his commission as a Second Lieutenant through the Reserves Officer Training Corps at Central Missouri State University as a Quartermaster officer in 1984. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Maintenance Technology and received his Masters of Science in Aviation Safety. While serving with the 219th Transportation Company at Scott AFB, BG Kok transferred to his current branch, Aviation. After attending the Aviation Basic Course, Initial Entry Rotary Wing Officer's Course and the UH-1 Maintenance Test Pilot Course he entered Active Guard Reserve Duty with the 228th Aviation Regiment, Willow Grove, PA in 1989. In 1992, BG Kok completed the Aviation Advanced Course and was assigned to 6th Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment at Fort Benning, GA where he served as the S4 and Executive Officer.
BG Kok was reassigned to the 5th Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment, Fort Eustis, VA in 1996 and served as the Battalion S4 and Executive Officer. After attending the Logistics Executive Development Course at Fort Lee, VA he was assigned to the 244th Aviation Brigade, Fort Sheridan, IL where he was the Brigade S1 and S4. The Chief of the Army Reserve then selected BG Kok for Command of M Company, 158th AVIM in 1999. Upon completion of his command, BG Kok reported to the 377th Theater Support Command in New Orleans during which time he completed the Command General Staff College.
BG Kok was deployed in January 2003 with the 377th TSC in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving as the Theater Transportation Officer in the Distribution Management Center. Upon his return, he was selected to command the 377th Special Troop Battalion. BG Kok returned to Kuwait in January 2004 and served as Planning Officer for the Deployment / Redeployment Operations Center OIF I and II rotations.
After completing his second tour BG Kok was selected to command the Bison Battalion, ROTC unit at Bucknell University, PA where he served as the Professor of Military Science. For two years, he served as commander of the 8th BN, 229th AAVN Regt (ATTACK), Flying Tigers. Upon completion of command he assumed the duties as Officer Recruiting Officer for all of Army Reserve Aviation for the 11th Aviation Command, Ft. Knox, KY.
BG Kok then proceeded to USTRANSCOM, Scott AFB, IL and served as the Deputy Director Reserve Affairs, J9 and Deputy Commander Joint Transportation Reserve Unit for two years. Upon completion of his tour he reported to USACAPOC(A) at Fort Bragg, NC, where he served as the ACoS, G4 and Special Assistant to the CG.
BG Kok took Command of the 11th Aviation Command in November 2012.
