Today, as we celebrate the Army’s birthday, I want to thank every Soldier, civilian and Family member for their dedication to duty and selfless service.
Today, as we celebrate the Army’s birthday, I want to thank every Soldier, civilian and Family member for their dedication to duty and selfless service.
Two hundred and thirty-seven years ago, our Nation’s leaders established the Continental Army, beginning a rich heritage of successfully defending this great Nation and her citizens. Today, we celebrate the continued honor, loyalty and bravery of our Soldiers in this noble calling. Our Soldiers remain Army Strong with a deep commitment to our core values and beliefs. This 237th birthday commemorates America’s Army - Soldiers, civilians and Family members - who are achieving a level of excellence that is truly Army Strong. We also celebrate our local communities for their steadfast support of our Soldiers and Families.
On this Army Birthday, we celebrate the Army Reserve, its members, and the proud contributions it has made to the Army as an indispensable part of the Total Force. The Army Reserve has grown from a small Medical Reserve Corps of just 160 doctors organized in 1908, to an organization of 205,000 Soldiers and over 12,000 civilians, sustaining and enhancing Total Army capability.
The coming decade will be a vital period of transition for both the Army and the Army Reserve, but one thing is certain - the Army Reserve’s capabilities will remain in high demand. The Army Reserve’s Soldiers, leaders, and units, who combine vital military capabilities with civilian-acquired skills, will continue to provide strategic depth across the full range of military operations to our Army. Meet me at Rally Point 32, enroute to Army and Joint Vision 2020. There is a bright future ahead. Together, we will stay
Army Strong!
