Veterans Day message from the Chief of Army Reserve

As Veterans Day approaches, it is a time for us to reflect on the sacrifices of all of the men and women who are currently serving or have served our great nation.  We are blessed with the privilege of calling ourselves Citizen Soldiers; committed to protecting the freedoms previous generations have passed on to us which we will in turn give to our children. Today we have the best Army Reserve the nation has ever known; none of which would be possible without your dedication and the commitment of your families and employers.

Today is a time to remember that our freedom rests on the shoulders of those who came before us.  We should take this time to reflect on the sacrifices and commitment of all who have served, especially our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters who are wounded warriors or have made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

I encourage you to talk with each other and take time for your families and co-workers.  Attend a commemoration ceremony in your community or hold your own gatherings to help others to remember all who have served.  Great organizations such as the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars who are the guardians of our warriors and their families are readily available and will welcome you at their events to commemorate this important day.

It is a privilege to serve with you, your families, and your employers.  As we reflect on our blessings and commemorate this important day, I wish all of you a Happy Veterans Day.  Thank you, your families, employers, and all who serve and have served before us for making our future possible.  May God Bless all of you for your sacrifice and Service and may God Bless all of you who continue to choose to protect our freedoms for future generations.

Twice the Citizen, Army Strong!
