Vicksburg, Miss.-- Becoming a general officer is more of a process than an event, Brig. Gen. Bud R. Jameson told a crowd of Soldiers and civilians at his promotion ceremony in Vicksburg, Miss., on Oct. 16, 2009.
After being selected by a board, nominated by the president, and approved by congress, the waiting process began for then Col. Jameson. This is due to the limited number of generals available in the Army Reserve.
"The good thing about the delay is that it gives you time to think about why you’re here, and what this all means." Jameson said. "I began to think about how fortunate I was to come to this assignment and therefore be eligible for promotion."
Jameson recently became the commander of the 926th Engineer Brigade in Montgomery Ala. after returning from a thirteen month deployment in Iraq.
The 412th TEC is privileged to have Brig. Gen. Jameson assigned as one of its brigade commanders, Maj. Gen. Paul Hamm the 412th TEC Commander told the crowd.
"He hit the ground running." Hamm said. "In the short time that he has been with us he has achieved remarkable results, and has been an effective commander. The Army made a wise decision in selecting him for general officer."
Jameson’s wife Roberta and his daughter Erin were on hand to assist Hamm with the promotion, and to culminate the waiting process.
