The 412th Engineer Command has been recognized by top Army brass for outstanding performance for its support of the war on terrorism.

Maj. Gen. Alan Bell, deputy commanding general for the U.S. Army Reserve Command, presented the Army Superior Unit Award to the 412th on Friday for its support and coordination of various units from July 1, 2006, to Oct. 1, 2007.

“The way you handled transformation and remained combat-effective is just tremendous,” Bell said. “What we see here is making it work.”

During the mission, the unit supported five unit mobilizations in the war on terror, primarily in Iraq and Afghanistan, and helped to transition all assigned engineer units to a new modular force structure.

“The 412th Engineer Command’s exceptional performance of duty is in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflects great credit upon the unit and the United States Army,” said Capt. Earnest Wyatt, reading from the award certificate.

Military service members assigned to the 412th for six months or longer during the mission time are now authorized to wear the award, by order of the Secretary of the Army.
