Vicksburg, Miss.-- Becoming a general officer is more of a process than an event, Brig. Gen. Bud R. Jameson told a crowd of Soldiers and civilians at his promotion ceremony in Vicksburg, Miss., on Oct. 16, 2009.

The 412th TEC honored seven retiring soldiers on September 12. Time in service for these Soldiers ranged from 24-34 years for a combined total of 207 years. The Soldiers honored were Colonel Derrick Batiste, Colonel Donald Kennedy, Colonel Reid Mrsny, Lieutenant Colonel Jack Hourguettes, Lieutenant Colonel Richard Jones, Master Sergeant Yolanda Allen, and Master Sergeant Gilda Williams. On Saturday, Brig. Gen. Jef­frey Talley gave command of the 926th Engineer Brigade, an Army Reserve unit based in Montgomery, to Col. Bud Jameson Jr. Talley is going to the 84th Training Command in Wisconsin.

In 90 degree heat, soldiers from the 841st Engineer Battalion stayed cool under pressure while competing in this year’s Army Reserve Philip A. Connelly awards, recently in Miami, Fla.

VICKSBURG, Mississippi – In recognition of the “Year of the NCO”, a cake cutting ceremony was held June 13th during the 2009 Warfighter Seminar at the Vicksburg Convention Center.

The 412th Theater Engineer Command is conducting their Thirtieth Annual Joint Engineer WARFIGHTER Seminar in Vicksburg, Mississippi, 11-14 June 2009. The expected audience will include active and reserve component participation with joint and multi-national representation from around the world.  The Theme this year is “Full Spectrum Maneuver Support.”

The Hills were attending the the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Workshop held in Orlando April 17-19. “Without soldiers like you, the nation would not be able to carry out its strategic plans,” Maj. Gen. Paul Hamm, commanding general of the 412th, told the approximately 200 soldiers and family members in attendance.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.— Thousands of supporters showed up today at the Weisgarber Army Reserve Center to say farewell to the 844th Engineer Battalion Soldiers as they headed to Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. There the Soldiers will receive their final training before they head to the CENTCOM area of operation. 

WEST POINT — In a symbolic ceremony, Brig. Gen. Michael Silva handed the colors of the 411th Engineer Brigade to his successor Sunday.

After three years of commanding more than 3,800 soldiers and managing $1.8 billion in construction projects in Iraq, the West Point grad will return to Kansas and dust off his resume.

The unit is headquartered in New Windsor. It pulls members from across most of the eastern half of the state, including the Hudson Valley.

Maj. Gen. Alan Bell, deputy commanding general for the U.S. Army Reserve Command, presented the Army Superior Unit Award to the 412th ENOCM Commander Maj. Gen. Paul Hamm on the 27th of Feb. for its support and coordination of various units from July 1, 2006, to Oct. 1, 2007.
The brigade's mission safely cleared about a million miles of road networks in Iraq and removed 2,500 weapons from the streets of Iraq and was instrumental in rebuilding the country's infrastructure, Maj. Gen. Hamm said.

“In 1925, there was a study at the Army Historical Institute on Negro troops in World War I. It said Negroes were inferior to whites and that Negroes lacked the courage to engage in combat and lacked the ability to handle sophisticated equipment. This was the mindset of the military establishment at the outset of World War II. I think we demonstrated that was not right,” Gray said

Overview

The 412th Theater Engineer Command, located in Vicksburg, Miss., conducts theater-level engineer operations for Eighth U.S. Army, Korea; U.S. Army Europe; and U.S. Army Pacific.  Support continental U.S. – based engineer requirements as directed.  Be prepared to participate in Joint and Combined regional contingency operations.

 Mission

Provide ready and trained units to the Warfighting Commander in a Theater of Operations, as a Theater Engineer Command (TEC) with Deployable Command Posts (DCPs) in support of a COCOM during contingency operations or domestic support.
