A pair of Army Reserve buddies from the Capital Region have been promoted to master sergeant while serving with the 561st Regional Support Group in the Iraq war.

Bryan Scott Pell Sr. of Rochester, formerly of Coxsackie, and Michael Schell of Little Falls, were recently promoted by Col. Alan DeBlieck, commander of the Army Reserve unit Omaha, Neb., during separate ceremonies at Victory Base Complex in Baghdad.

Pell serves as the Directorate of Public Works' noncommissioned officer in charge of terrain management, and Schell as a utilities noncommissioned officer.
