Army Reserve command launches maintenance readiness program

Maj. Gen. Troy D. Kok, commanding general of the U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command, observes training during the command’s new Maintenance Sustainment and Readiness Program. The program gives Army Reserve Soldiers the opportunity to perform maintenance tasks at the 99th RSC’s Area Maintenance Support Activities and Equipment Concentration Sites in order to increase skill proficiency and enhance unit readiness.

314th CSSB assumes mission command

Meet Your Army: Army Reserve Maj. Florez is moving mountains for inauguration

U.S. Army Reserve Maj. Beatriz Florez, a McAllen, Texas native, joined the Joint Task Force - National Capital Region in support of the 58th Presidential Inauguration, which will take place Jan. 20, 2017. The task force is charged with coordinating all military ceremonial support for the inaugural period. As a joint service committee, it includes members from all branches of the armed forces of the United States, including Reserve and National Guard components.

Soldier completes historic combat tour

Pfc. Nessy Sanders, stands next to the vehicle she drove in Iraq during Operation Inherent Resolve. In August 2016, Sanders became the first female to deploy to Erbil, Iraq as a Combat Engineer since the Military Occupational Specialty 12B was opened to women in June 2015. Sanders is assigned to Company B, 39th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 101st Airborne Division. A Combat Engineers duties include constructing fighting positions, fixed and floating bridges, obstacles and defensive positions and emplacing and detonationg explosives. Sanders is from Columbus, Mississippi. Her mother also served in the Army in the mid-1980s.

Erbil, Iraq is home to one of four Combined Joint Task Force locations under Operation Inherent Reslove dedicated to training Iraqi defense forces to assist in the defeat of ISIL in Iraq and Syria.

LTG Charles D. Luckey, Chief of Army Reserve and Commanding General, U.S. Army Reserve Command talk to Lt. Col. David Dinkelman, deputy commander, 1CD RSSB and Lt. Col. Shawn O’Brien, support operations officer, 1CD RSSB during his visit to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan Jan. 8.
