2-228th Aviation Regiment 'Winged Warriors' welcomes new commander

JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-LAKEHURST, N.J. - Lt. Col. Geoffrey Jeram assumed command of 2-228th Aviation Regiment in a ceremony at its headquarters located on Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst, Sunday, Aug. 9. In his last official act as outgoing commander. Lt. Col. Michael Milio passed the battalion colors to Jeram and relinquished command in a ceremony officiated by Col. William Clark, 244th Aviation Brigade Commander.

The passing of the colors symbolizes the relinquishment of command, acceptance of command and enduring confidence placed by leadership.

Jeram brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, having served in various operational roles both stateside and in combat environments. Jeram has a Masters of Science in Aerospace Engineering, Masters in Business Administration, and Doctor of Philosophy in Aerospace Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Jeram’s military education includes the Aviation Officer Basic Course, Aviation Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms Services Staff School, and Command and General Staff College Intermediate Level Education. The Army has awarded him the Air Assault, Parachutist, and Aviator badges.

The 2-228th Aviation Regiment is one of the two fixed-wing battalions in the entire army reserve. This aviation regiment stands ready to deploy to a specified theater of operations to execute fixed-wing aviation operations and mission command in support of the combatant commander.
