U.S. Army officers graduate among hundreds of Kings Pointers
A stack of second lieutenant ranks, Army Officer Guides and framed commissioning decrees are placed on a table for six lieutenants about to commission into the U.S. Army among hundreds of Kings Pointers at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York, during a private commissioning ceremony June 18. Maj. Gen. Phillip Churn, commanding general of the 200th Military Police Command, U.S. Army Reserve, a native of Washington, D.C., administered the Oath of Commissioned Officers for the Army lieutenants. The 2016 graduating class included 229 senior midshipmen, each earning a Bachelor of Science degree, a direct commission into the armed forces and a U.S. Coast Guard license.
