Reserve Soldiers don new right-shoulder insignia

By Sgt. 1st Class Shaiyla Hakeem Area Support Group - Jordan

U.S. Army Soldiers with the 655 Regional Support Group, based out of Westover Air Base, formally received the 316 Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) (ESC) insignia to be worn on the right shoulder, in honor of their current duty rotation, July 30, 2019 at Joint Training Center-Jordan.

U.S. Army Col. Lyle Ourada, Area Support Group-Jordan (ASG-J) commander, placed the insignia on each Soldier and spoke to them about the significance of the event.

“Our [655 RSG] motto is ‘Strength in Unity,’ our success along the way will be built on our motto,” explained Ourada, “Our strength to endure, and our unity of effort to create the comradery of success for ASG-Jordan.”

For many Soldiers, this is their first-time being activated for a duty rotation in a foreign country. U.S. Army 2nd Lt. Brooke Vanrosendael, with 655 RSG, says being in Jordan is an opportunity of a lifetime and she could not imagine passing up the chance to serve her country. Vanrosendael explained she can learn from all rank structures, career backgrounds, and varying branches; most of all, she is making life-long relationships.

“I felt proud to be an American and honored to have been chosen for this mission with my unit,” she said, “They [my unit] are becoming more like family with each and every day.”
The 655 RSG is a subordinate unit to the 316 ESC, which is headquartered out of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania.

The original 316 Logistical Command was activated on December 1, 1950 and deactivated in 1968 at Knoxville, Tennessee. On January 17, 2006, the command was redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 316 ESC and activated on September 16, 2007 at Coraopolis.
