850th Signal Company conducts Communications Exercise

U.S. Army Reserve's 850th Signal Company, based out of Salt Lake City, Utah, conducted a Communications Exercise (COMEX) to ensure assigned Soldiers were trained and ready for this year's Combat Support Training Exercise (CSTX) at Fort Hunter Liggett, California.

Training requirements were met as links to the satellite were successfully established without intervention from personnel outside the company, and all Command Post Node (CPN) stacks were successfully validated by company personnel and minor updates to the Local Area Network (LAN) manager laptops were identified.  A critical component failure (Uninterrupted Power Supply) in the second Satellite Transmission Terminal (STT) was identified, with solutions being explored with personnel from the 505th Tactical Theater Signal Brigade (TTSB).  Signal flow between the Joint Network Node (JNN) Colorless Router and its associated STT Modem is currently non-functional; default gateway configuration on the JNN Colorless Router is suspected.

Coordination efforts to correctly configure the JNN Colorless Router are underway; select personnel from the 79th Theater Sustainment Command G6 and 850th SC will travel back to Fort Hunter Liggett 21-24 April in order to re-establish the signal flow between the JNN and its associated STT.  The 505th TTSB and 335th Signal Command will support funding of this effort to the 79th TSC G6 and 850th SC personnel attending the event.  Upon successful establishment of the signal flow from the JNN to its associated STT, the 850th SC will be FMC for CSTX signal support requirements.
