Dallas, Cowboys honor local military members with ‘salute to service’

By ARLINGTON, Texas 4th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary)

Sunday Night Football marked a win for the Dallas Cowboys on two fronts.

The first was beating division rival New York Giants 20-13 at AT&T Stadium. The second was giving the U.S. Army Reserve's 300th Sustainment Brigade, based in Grand Prairie, Texas, and traveling from their pre-mobilization station in Fort Hood, a deployment send-off of Texas-sized proportions.

They also paid homage and respect to other services vital to American freedom like the Air Force, Marine Corps, and Navy. The event included a pre-game flag ceremony and the National Anthem belted out on the sultry jazz tones of musician Freddie Jones and third-quarter recognition of the 300th, which will deploy some time in the next few months.

The USAR group was led by the sustainment brigade’s deputy commander, Lt. Col. Jeremy Baran, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, but recently transplanted into Texas soil.

Baran noted it wasn't only Jerry Jones and the Cowboys staff that welcomed Airman, Marine, Sailor, and Soldier alike. He said the support of faithful Dallasites and Cowboy fans, too, showed how deep the heart of Texas is.
