ARMEDCOM: changing lives; building readiness

Local resident Benita Alvarado receives much-needed optometry care from Army Reserve medical professionals providing support at Larga Vista Community Center in Laredo, Texas.  Alvarado is one of nearly 5,000 patients who received medical support during the two week mission supporting Webb County’s under-served Colonias population. Services provided by Army Reserve personnel are done through the Department of Defense’s Innovative Readiness Training, a civil-military program that builds mutually beneficial partnerships between U.S. communities and the DoD. The missions selected meet training and readiness requirements for Army Reserve service members while integrating them as a joint and whole-of-society team to serve our American citizens.

Army Reserve Soldier continues lifetime of learning

Moton earned his Ph.D. in business administration in 2016, joining a select group of Army Reserve Soldiers who have pursued higher education. Of all doctorates in the U.S. Army, 75 percent reside in the U.S. Army Reserve. Of all master’s degrees in the U.S. Army, 50 percent reside in the U.S. Army Reserve. Having such a highly educated force helps America’s Army Reserve remain the most capable, combat-ready and lethal federal reserve force in the history of the nation.

Readiness through Repetition

Engineers construct troop readiness at Hohenfels

The fourth rotation of engineer Soldiers participating in the Joint Multinational Readiness Center’s Troop Construction Program (TCP) 2017 arrived on the heels of the multinational exercise Combined Resolve XIII at Hohenfels, Germany.  The group of nearly 180 Soldiers from Pennsylvania, Illinois, Minnesota and Texas representing U.S. Army Reserve’s 412th and 416th Theater Engineer Commands, are on are executing the TCP 2017 mission by constructing complex elements essential to the training area’s operational environment. Signal Soldiers Return from Successful Deployment

Rosebud brings meaningful work and readiness to Army Reserve medical professionals

Sgt. Matthew Kunsch, a dental specialist assigned to 7406th Troop Medical Clinic located in Kansas City, Missouri, learns how to perform a general cleaning from staff member Michelle Scott, a dental hygienist on the team.  Kunsch is one of approximately 25 U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers who are working in partnership with Rosebud Indian Health Service to provide medical care to the local tribal population.
