Command Sgt. Maj. Ronnie Farmer began his career with the United States Army Reserve in August 1988. He completed Basic and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Throughout his military career, Farmer has served in every leadership position in the Army Reserve from Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, and Operations Sergeant Major to Command Sergeant Major.

His assignments include, the 319th Transportation Company, Augusta Georgia; Lanes-Meister, 2d/Battalion 347th Regiment Fort Gordon, Georgia; Transportation NCOIC, 2d/ Battalion 345th Regiment Fort Jackson, South Carolina; Operations Sergeant Major, 2d/Battalion, 345th Regiment, Fort Jackson, South Carolina; Brigade Sergeant Major, 1189th Transportation Terminal Brigade, Charleston, South Carolina; Group Sergeant Major 595th (Active Component), Transportation Terminal Group, Port of Ash-Squaiba Kuwait, with an area of responsibility in Bagram, Afghanistan; Balad, Iraq and Bahrain; Group Sergeant Major (Rear), 597th Transportation Terminal Group, (Active Component), Fort Eustis, Virgina, and Command Sergeant Major of the 75th Training Command, Houston, Texas. Farmer is currently assigned as the Command Sergeant Major of the 335th Signal Command (Theater), East Point, Georgia.

Farmer's military and civilian education include Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, First Sergeant Course, Battle Staff Noncommissioned Officer Course, Pre-Command Course, Small Group Leaders Course, STAMP Course, United States Army
Reserve Retention Course, Mobilization Planner's Course, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course, Sergeant Majors Force Management Course and the Executive Leader Course- United States Army War College. He is a graduate of the prestigious United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 55. He holds an Associate Degree from Georgia Military College, Bachelor of Science Degree from Excelsior College, and a Master of Arts Degree from Webster University, all with honors.
