U.S. Army Reserve Chief Warrant Officer Five Allen L. Metheny is the Command Chief Warrant Officer (CCWO) for the 81st Readiness Division headquartered in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He serves as the senior advisor to the Commanding General on all things Warrant Officer. He provides mentorship to the WO cohort and Soldiers, and supports the Command through WO recruitment, education, integration, and staffing, and assists ARCG in recruiting new Warrant Officers.

A native of Terra Alta, West Virginia, Mr. Metheny enlisted in the United States Army Reserve on 19 December 1989 as a 63J Chemical Equipment Repairman. Private Metheny reported to the 646th Quartermaster Company, Kingwood, WV. CW5 Metheny graduated Warrant Officer Candidate School at Fort Rucker, Alabama and was appointed as a Warrant Officer One on 4 February 2000. He was commissioned on 4 February 2002.

Mr. Metheny first reported to the 316th ESC in July 2015 as the G4 Senior Ordnance Ground Maintenance Officer. He then served in the same position for the 316th ESC Mission Support Element (MSE). In 2020, he was promoted to CW5 as the SPO Material Readiness Branch Ordnance Logistics Officer. He was then selected and appointed the additional duty of 316th ESC CCWO.

Mr. Metheny’s other assignments include Automotive Maintenance Chief of the Forward Support Company, 458th Engineer Battalion (EN BN) and a brief stint as 458th EN BN G4 Maintenance Officer, both in Johnstown, PA; Commander and Automotive Maintenance Chief, 298th Transportation Company, Franklin, PA; Commander and Automotive Maintenance Chief, 629th Transportation Company, Clearfield, PA; Senior Mechanic, 318th General Support Maintenance Company, State College, PA; and Chemical Equipment and Quartermaster Repairman, 646th Quartermaster Company, Kingwood, WV.

Mr. Metheny was deployed from February 2003 to June 2004 as a part of Operation Enduring Freedom and then Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 629th Transportation Company as the Automotive Maintenance Chief. He was mobilized from October 2016 to September 2017 for Operation Enduring Freedom with the 316th ESC MSE as the Senior Maintenance Officer and the 316th ESC Deputy CCWO.

Mr. Metheny has completed the following military courses: Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Warrant Officer Candidate School, Warrant Officer Basic Course, Warrant Officer Advanced Course, Warrant Officer Intermediate Level Education, and the Warrant Officer Senior Staff Education course. He also completed the Safety Officers Course, the Additional Duty Safety Officer’s Course, the Pre-Command Course, Environmental Officer’s Course, and numerous online military courses.

Chief Warrant Officer Five Metheny’s civilian employment is as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairman for AMSA 112, Lock Haven, PA and he serves on the Citizens Advisory Committee for Finance for the State College Area School District. Mr. Metheny was recently married and resides in Pennsylvania along with his daughter who is attending her sophomore year of high school. When not working for the Army, CW5 Metheny spends much of his time assisting his daughter with her rodeo ambitions and working on the family farm in Cranesville, WV.
