Command Sergeant Major, 84th Training Command

Command Sergeant Major Scott A. Hinton enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on October 2nd 1985 and attended basic training at Parris Island, SC. Sergeant Major attended his service school at the School of Infantry, Camp Lejeune, NC and served in the Marine Corps until 1987. Command Sergeant Major Hinton enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1987 in the 246 th Psychological Operations Company and attended the Psychological Operations 96F 10 Phase I and Phase II course.

Command Sergeant Major Hinton has served in the Army Reserve as an Psychological Operations Specialist, Team Chief, Senior Psychological Operations NCO, Materials Management NCO, Group G-4 NCOIC, First Sergeant of three different companies, 92Y Operations SGT, acting Command Sergeant Major of a deactivating BN, BN Command Sergeant Major, Group Operations SGM, acting Group Command Sergeant Major, 643rd Group Command Sergeant Major, Expeditionary Sustainment Command Rear Detachment Command Sergeant Major, Concurrently 643rd RSG and interim 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command Sergeant Major, 377th Theater Sustainment Command G3 SGM, and the 91st Training Division Command Sergeant Major.

Command Sergeant Major Hinton’s mobilizations and deployments include deploying to Haiti as a Senior Psychological Operations NCO 1995 -1996. OIF 1SG and Operations Sergeant mobilizations from 2002 – 2004, OIF deployment as a Company First Sergeant from 2004 – 2006, OEF mobilization as the 10th PSYOP BN Command Sergeant Major from 2009 -2010, and mobilization as the 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command Rear Detachment Command Sergeant Major, and interim Command Sergeant Major for the 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command.

Sergeant Major Hinton is married to Kerri Lynn Hinton (SFC Retired, US Army Reserve) with three sons—an Air Force veteran and two currently serving in the Air Force.
