Command Sergeant Major Keith Gwin enlisted in the Active Component of the US Army in October 1989 and completed Basic Training at Fort Knox, KY. Upon completion of Basic Training and AIT, he spent a total of 10 years on active duty with assignments in Stuttgart, Germany; Fort Jackson, SC; Seoul, South Korea, and Fort Carson, CO.

1999, CSM Gwin transitioned to the Army Reserve and was assigned as NCOIC, Battalion S1 for 3d Bn (Logistics Support), 411th Regiment, Indianapolis, Indiana. While assigned to 3/411th, CSM Gwin was mobilized for 179 days under Operation Noble Eagle supporting training at Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center, Edinburgh, Indiana. In June 2005, he was promoted and appointed as First Sergeant, HHD, 2d Battalion, 338th Regiment (Training Support), Camp Atterbury, Indiana. He completed an additional 18 months of mobilization under Operation Enduring Freedom while assigned to the 2-338. In June 2007, he transferred to 2d Battalion, 399th Regiment, Fort Knox KY, serving as Battalion Operations Sergeant and later as A Company First Sergeant. He was promoted to CSM on 1 October 2009 and has served as Command Sergeant Major of: 766th Transportation Battalion, South Bend, Indiana (2009-2012), 206th Regional Support Group, Springfield, IL (2012-2015), 645th Regional Support Group, Southfield, MI (2015-2017). While assigned to 645th RSG, he completed a 9 month deployment to Afghanistan from August 2016 to May 2017, serving as the Forward Support Base Command Sergeant Major at HQ Resolute Support, Kabul, Afghanistan. On 15 June 2017, he assumed duties as the Command Sergeant Major of 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), Indianapolis, IN.

His military education includes Basic Combat Training; Personnel Administration Specialist Course (75B); Primary Leadership Development Course; Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course; Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, 1SG Course, Sergeants Major Course; Structured Self Development Level 5, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education I Course and the Battalion/Brigade Pre-Command Course.

He is a 2013 graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Information Systems (BS, BIS).

Awards and decorations include the MSM (5th award), ARCOM (8th award), AAM (6th award), GCM (3rd award), ARCAM (5th award), ACM (w/ bronze campaign star), NDSM (w/ bronze campaign star), KDSM, AFRM (w/10yr dev & M dev), GWOTSM, NCOPDR (with 5 affixed); ASR, OSR (3d award), and the NATO Non-Article 5 Medal.

CSM Gwin is employed as a Global Offering Manager at IBM Security Services.
