FORT BRAGG, NC - Lt. Gen. Jody Daniels (right), Chief of Army Reserve and Commanding General, U.S. Army Reserve Command, receives a medical card as record for her COVID-19 vaccination at the Womack Army Medical Center, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Jan. 11, 2021. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines work by using transient information carrying molecules (mRNA) to teach our cells to make a protein that triggers antibody formation to create an immune response in our bodies. The mRNA is synthetic, not extracted from actual viruses, and it does not enter or interact with your body’s own DNA. The vaccine requires two doses, so Lt. Gen. Daniels is setting up the appointment to receive her second dose in about 21-28 days.
