7th Warrior Training Brigade takes training to Soldiers in Djibouti

772nd Civil Support Team supports medical mission in Tanzania
ZANZIBAR, Tanzania — Members of the Army Reserve's 772nd Civil Support Team, 7th Civil Support Command, concluded their two-week mission of providing command and control, liaison capability and event support for a 16-member medical team during a Medical Readiness and Training Exercise known as MEDRETE 12, here Jan. 30 to Feb. 12.

773rd CST takes on EMAT responsibilities
Although the EMAT was deactivated, the need for this capability remains. Taking up the mission is the Army Reserve’s 773rd Civil Support Team, 7th Civil Support Command, based in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Activated in 2009 and fully operational since 2010, the 773rd CST possesses the unique skill, expertise and capability to carry out what is expected of an EMAT.

Members of the U.S. Coast Guard and representatives from the U.S. Army Reserve held the ceremony to remember the 198 Coast Guardsmen, 56 U.S. Army stevedores, and a U.S. Public Health Service surgeon who died on the USS Serpens. The USS Serpens AK 97 was anchored off Lunga Beach, Guadalcanal, Solomon Island when it suddenly exploded on January 29, 1945.

 
Reserve Soldiers finish detainee operations in Afghanistan
Capt. James Balutowski, 308th Military Police Company, 244th Engineer Battalion, a Reserve unit headquartered at Fort Carson, reported the return of almost 100 soldiers. They faced a set of bleachers packed with hundreds of family members and friends, cheering with welcome home signs, gripping balloons and holding flowers.

Medics keep skills sharp

EDINBURGH, Ind. — Army medics are required to complete 72 hours of training every two years to ensure their skills do not deteriorate. To address this training requirement, National Guard and Army Reserve medics came to Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center to fulfill 48 hours of sustainment training Jan. 9 – 15.

Timothy Smith, commander of the Arny Reserve's 314th Public Affairs Operations Center wore to the range that day was more than standard issue. For Smith, it was a gesture for a fallen hero.
