8-229th Change of command ceremony
FORT KNOX, KY – Lt. Col. James O. Posey accepted responsibility for the 8-229th Aviation Battalion from outgoing commander Lt. Col Troy D. Kok during a change of command ceremony at Godman Airfield, Sunday.
Father-daughter pilots

FORT KNOX, KY – The first Apache flight with father-daughter pilots in the Army Reserve was scheduled and conducted a training flight here on Tuesday.
 
8-229th Aviation Regiment "Flying Tigers" 
In 1988, the 229th Aviation Regiment (ATTACK) was granted permission from the American Volunteer Group (FLYING TIGERS) to use their name and logo.  All units within the 229th Aviation Regiment are proudly known as the Flying Tigers.  Just like their early World War Two brethren, the modern day Flying Tigers are prepared to go anywhere in the world and confront overwhelming odds to maintain democracy and peace to oppressed people.
